Subject: the week
From: shane.parkinson@myldsmail.net

well this week was a good week but i have been really tired. you dont realize how important pday is until you dont have it and the whole week you are ike dying becasue of how tired you are!! and even worse because on pday we didnt rest we had a super pday taht is a pday with a ton of missionaries and we go and we play all day i played basketball for a while and some soccer we were doing that until like 3 and then the president showed us a movie i cant rember the name but it was about the pioneers that got stuck in the snow a group of people went to rescue them it was like elias rescue or something like that but it was really good and he talked about the importance of less active  people it was really good we also have a multi zone conference tommorow so this whole week is full of conferences for us it is cool!!

But last monday was the coolest. we got the opportunity to see elder clayton who is in the quorom presidency of the seventy. it was really fun. along with him elder uceda the area president went and also and area seventy it was really cool!! all of the missionaries in the city bogota went. like 100 from bogota north mission and bogota south mission! also the mitc missionaries weree there and so that ment that we had the two mission presidents from norht and south and the mtc president. and also the temple president went as well so there was a whole lot of athority there we could say!! it was really fun we learned a ton it was a little short only like 3 hours!! but i really learned a lot!! it is so awsoe the power that the apostles have when the speak it really penetrates deep!!!! but yeah it was awsome1!!

Today during the movie that we watched (i remember the name it is ephiram´s rescue) (i also recomend that you buy it and watch it) there was something taht he says. he said ¨The Gospel of Jesus Christ is another name for ¨opportunity¨¨ I really kinda though about that because it is really really true. the Gospel of Jesus Christ is our knowledge to have opportunty not opportunities of tons of money or stuff like that but really it is the opportunty to because like Christ and serve and do the things that Christ would do!! that really kinda hit me deep when it said that becauset the gospel is what will change people more than anything in this world. i would like to invite you all to think abvout that saying and how you can learn from it. that means you willneed to pray and study to receive personal revelation becuase it really is something that each and everyone of us can apply to our lifes personally. but i would recomend that all watch it if you have not seen it.

But this is all i have for this week I hope that everyone is doing well i doubt i will write a lot on monday but we will see i love you all!!

OPEN HOUSE

so this week was a pretty good week! the hightlight you could say was that we had a open house and that went really well we had like a 150 people or so enter the church to get to know it! it is wierd a lot of people thought it was like  a school house or something like that but it is all good! we gave like 400 liahonas to all the people here it was really cool the little kids were handing them out and everything. i dont have pictures but the bishop is going to give us them so i can send them home so that you can see them. it really was a good expierenece though we have not tought any of these people still but that is okay we are going to call a ton this week so that we can teach them all!! other than that the week was a pretty tough week in latin america it is not easter sunday it is like holy week or semaña santa and so noone works or anything thursday or friday and the whole world decides to travel and take vacation so it was hard to find people in there house to be able to teach them and so it was a pretty tough week but this week will be better i hope!
This week i had to speak in sacrament and i gave a reqlly nice talk. it is weird now i can actally talk for more than two minutes like i did when kyle got home oops. i talked for like 10 minutes and ran out of time even though i still had a ton of things to say still. i was going to talk for like 40 minutes!! okay not so much but i actually like to speak in fornt of people for some reason i want to go to a branch so that i have to speak like every week and not one time every like 4 months.
The mission really is something special. i have learned that the last couple weeks. well maybe i learned a long time but these last couple days i have really thought about my time in the mission (even though i have very little amout of time) and the lord really does bless me so much for the work i do here. i have learned so much about the gospel and how it can change people i have seen changes in my life and for the good. with out the mission who knows were i would be but the lord has guided me to be exactly were i need to be and has blessed me greatly for what i have done. one learns so much stuff from the gospel, to spanish , to how to do a rubics cube and all the way to how to live in the real world!!! i have really realized that 2 years is not a long time at all. the Lord gives us like 80 plus years and 2 years can be dedicated all to him. i just got to say the mission is awsome!!
I hope that everyone has a good week and enjoys the idaho weather!! i will talk to you all later and i love you all and am so grateful to have you all in my life!! bye bye

Almuerzando con la familia Moya-Sanchez

Well hello there every one!!

This week truly flew by and even though we didnt even work for a single minute on wednesday!! why didnt we work on wednesday well becsaue we had a visiter come teach us a whole tonof stuff! it was elder uceda. yeah he is a member of the 70 and the south america northeast area president but he was awsome to hear! he spoke in general conferance in november 2010 so if you want to see how he speaks read his talk it is way good(your weekly homework)!! but it is not always so cool becasue sometimes those generall authorities talk a little bit nicer to members that are normal and so it is more fun! but when they speak to missionaries it is a little more harsh for the ears ha!! but it is awsome still

This day we had to be at the stake center at 12 and we didnt leave until 830 beacsue at 7 we had a ward council meeting but spoke for like 3 and a half hours to us and if felt so fast and he really knows how to keep a group interested and not get bored. he is a really funny guy and he knows how to motivate and he sure knows he doctrine ha! but he talked to us about obideience and the important of preach my gospel and and the videos with it and all of the fun stuff we all need to hear. one of my favorite things was the preach my gospel videos and their importance and how we should use them. he said that when the church released the book they though everthing would change greatly in missionary work but it only did a little and so they then came out with a booklet for missionaries to use when they train and the same result not a huge change and so they came out with movies because us teenagers dont read so well and so this would help and i realized last week as i used them to study it was a lot easier and fun ha!! but yeah it was a good expiernce!!

This last saturday gloria´s freind took us to luch and a resturant that was absolutly amazing it reminded me a lot of rupes and it was way good!! i am thinking that it is my new favorite plavCeª! those are the pictures on gloria´s facebook! but yeah so the week was a really good week and i hope to have a good week this week here in colombia and also on march madness so that i dont loose to carter!!! i love you all and have a good week!!

bautismos

Well this week we were blessed with three baptisms!! i baptised maria fernada (picture DSC01198) and my companion the other two!! it really was a blessing for working hard for such a long time and not seeing baptisms!! they are a really good family and they  have a good testimony!! the baptism was great even though i had the privelge of doing it 4 times well i just kept saying part in english and so i had to start over and one time here knee came out of the water!! all stuff to remember ofr  ever ha!! well other than that the week was pretty tough! !we didnt have a lot of lessons to teach and so we walked a ton but that is okay it happens a lot here!!  we are working hard and that is the most iportant thing that we can do!!
The baptismal service went relly well! a lot of people went i would say like thirty people or so and it went really smooth and we didnt have any problems. the only probles was the clothes for the mom was absolutly giant on her ha but it is okay!!!
I thought alot this last week about my first year in my mission. and sadly it has gone by really fast! ! i have learned a whole ton of things about the gospel and a little bit of spanish!! and the thing that really surprised me the most is that i was able to see the hand of the lord in my misison like crazy!!
i have not really had a ton of success if you look at numbers that i have had or baprisms or things like that but i sure have had success in about everything else that i have done! i have luckily been able to get along well with all of my companions and been happy pretty much the whole time excpet the first day when the dog bite me but other than that it has all been joy!! the mission has treated me well and i hope that the second year can be twice as good as the first year!!!!
Sorry that i dont have a lot to write but i dont really remember anything about the week other than saturday!!
Also on wednsday we had like a activity that we call family home evening for the whole ward that went really welll like 70 people went to it pretty muchly the whole ward. we taught a sweet lesson or shared a message aobut the holy ghost that went really well the only bad part is that pretty mucly no one wanted to participate and so we had to like beg people to read or to share somthing at first but towards the end of the lesson it was better but the lesson went really well and we had a good time!! well i got to go i love you all and hope that you all have a good week!!
